baby update #2

I saw my OB yesterday and I'm already dilated to a 2!! Which means, the baby could come early?!?? She (my doctor) said to be ready by next week... (scary!!!) What am I going to do? I'm SO not ready for Sarah to come yet... Please pray for me that I do not go into labor earlier than the 30th... I have so many things yet to do before she comes... hopefully it's just like Rowan and I was a 2 for 3 weeks... but she said things tend to go faster with the 2nd... and once I hit a 3, I was in labor in the hospital with contractions (one day after my due date w/Rowan)... So this could be bad... Anyone have the same experience w/baby #2? Words of advice? Do I let Sarah sleep in the bottom of one of my dresser drawers because I still can't decide on a bassinet for her? Who wants to come and help me put together my Ikea dresser for Rowan so I can put Sarah's clothes in the changing table (where his clothes are now)... Not to mention, my house is a MESS! I did not get that "nesting surge of energy" (still waiting for it) so I have to hire a housekeeper because there's just no way I can do it right now... I can hardly bathe Rowan let alone scrub the tub. My poor laundry is one eternal cycle of washing - wearing - with no folding and putting away (it's making me crazy, because I'm SUCH a freak about putting laundry away, but can't sit long enough to fold it all up!!) WHAT am I going to do??? Don't worry, my sweet husband who is sound asleep next to me, still in his work clothes, laptop on his lap, on the couch at 10:30 pm is AMAZING, and doing the best he can, but unfortunately at this stage in our lives with our rapidly growing new business, Mark's busy audit season at ACS, and the impending arrival of our newest Dunning, we are both swamped, exhausted, and stretched to the max! We just need a few more weeks... Ok, Sarah? We love you but want you to be full-term... you'll sleep better, trust me.

I have this week off so I'm coming over to help. I LOVE putting IKEA furniture together (seriously). You name the day!

Kristy, don't stress out too much. I was dilated at a two from 30 weeks on and a 3 at 34 weeks. By 36 weeks I was a 4 and had Drew at 38 weeks. I was on bedrest for most of my pregnancy with him because of my cervix dilating early. Just take it easy, avoid sex and you should be okay.

Of course every body is different, and you will be in my prayers that Sarah stays put until she is full term.

Don't worry Kristy! If Sarah comes early you'll have help. On a good note. So many people I know were dialeted for weeks with their second before going into labor OR had to actually be induced. My friend was dialated at 3cm for 3 weeks and went into labor AFTER her due date (with baby #2), Rebecca was dialated at 3cm for 3+ weeks with Lauren and had to actually be induced. My doctor did tell me the same thing that baby #2 goes faster but then in the same sentence she also told me that she herself was dialated for weeks and had to be induced with both her 2nd and 3rd baby! So we'll keep our fingers crossed over here that little Sarah waits until the 30th but if not, you'll have help! You have LOTS of friends and also your wonderful neighbors ;) Good luck!

Aren't husbands great? Could you imagine being a single mom, trying to raise one and be pregnant with the other? I am so glad that he is helping you out. He would be in big trouble if he wasn't! :)

Kristy, Unfortunately (or fortunately) I cannot give advice on the second pregnancy- but I can definately relate to the feeling of not having enough time or energy to get everything done! Steve and I have been going through the same feelings of being stretched to the max lately! I feel like there is never enough time in the day. But, at the end of the day when I get to sit down and see my child smile and hug my husband- everything seems ok. I guess I am trying to say... it will all work out! Love ya!!

Kristy-
So good to hear from you! When things calm down (ha ha) call me! Hopefully Sarah will hang in there a little longer for you! :)You never know... I was dilated to a 5 and 100% effaced when I went to the hospital to be induced and wasn't feeling ANYTHING!! Good luck! Love and miss you!

Well, I hate to break it to you but Sarah will be considered 'full term' in about 5 days. 38 weeks. But never fear, I have the answer. Do the OPPOSITE of what you think. Meaning, if you think she will come early, she won't. If you want her to wait a bit, she will come early. It seems like whatever we want them to do they do the opposite...just to show us who's in charge! I'll be thinking good thoughts in your direction!!!!

Hang in there Kristy, I have a feeling little Sarah will wait until the 30th but just wants to make her presence known. What a little princess already huh?! If she does happen to come early, we all here on Red Rail are more than happy to help out in any way we can, please don't be afraid to call!

I was a 2 for a few weeks with both girls. But, you just never know! I would be happy to help with anything. I totally relate to scrubbing the bath, it just doesn't happen when you're pregnant. Who am I kidding, I never want to scrub the bath.
