we spent Christmas in Idaho this year, which was a sudden decision - one made late at night in a dark closet (yes, that's where my baby sleeps, don't judge) in a rocking chair holding my sweet Shelby and feeling so sad that as she is most likely my last baby and how i can't cherish each precious chubby moment with her enough... i thought of how my mom's only wish was to rock a sweet baby to sleep, as my other 2 were no rockers... so, for Christmas this year I wanted to give my Mom a baby to rock to sleep.
hence, a 5 day trip with 3 kids 3 and under to Idaho ensued.
the pictures above were taken just before we left during our "California Christmas Eve Eve" where our younglings did more wiggling and tree ornament grabbing than opening presents, seriously why did I buy any?!?
maybe it needed to actually be Christmas for them to grasp the present opening concept.

Christmas morning in a cold and snowy Idaho
.

Rowan, more excited about handing out the presents
for everyone else to open than his own.
and my kids' HERO, uncle Kendal.
this brother of mine has a heart of gold
(and that just doesn't seem to do him justice in describing how incredible this guy is).
he is getting married soon to the most beautiful girl, his high school sweetheart whom we LOVE to pieces and couldn't be happier for them both.
he's going to be one amazing dad...
just look at the way he spoiled my kids this Christmas!
that race car track he gave to Rowan was the big HIT of the day (and now the year, as it is the only toy ALL three of them love together at the same time... to watch, to obstruct with either a foot or hand or object, or shake and go!) that's how it works... the harder you shake the car up (to get it revved!) the faster it goes around the track... thank you, uncle Kendal - you made our Christmas so memorable.
We love you!

as it was when i was little.
it's such a magical and delightful time of year.
i am so happy we made the long trip to idaho to spend it with our family.
my mom got her christmas wish... she rocked that sweet Shelby to sleep many a time, and i got my christmas wish, to witness a grandma cherish a grandbaby.
it was a christmas to remember.
now, on to 2010!
(and to blogging something relatively current ;)

Kristy,
You almost had me in tears. I love your sweet little write up on Kendal. He is such an incredible man and I am soooo HAPPY to FINALLY be able to be his wifey... He is going to be the most amazing daddy too. PresLee just adores him. Only 3 weeks left! BTW, we want Rowan to be the ring bearer. Don't you think that would be so cute? I will call you and talk about it. Or perhaps you should call me when you have a moment... :)
Love your soon to be sis!
BTW, Kendal read it too and he was very touched... Well as much as a guy can be... lol! Really, he appreciated it.
Carson got the same race car track for Christmas- he "shaky shakes" ALL day long!!! Love the pics!
Gorgeous Pictures! I'm sorry we couldn't visit more when we were there! Kendal's getting married?!!! That's awesome. To Kasey I presume. When's the big day? How exciting!
