OC Fair!

Tonight we went to see the bull riders at the OC Fair... it was super fun, but short-lived with our 2 under 2... it took Rowan about 30 minutes into the bull riding to start talking and pointing. Before that it was all business with such a serious face.
Then it was off to see the livestock! Rowan is now petrified of goats. I feel awful about it too. Maggie and I took our 4 under 2 to Zoomar's this past week. They loved the bunnies, the train ride, the carrots... but unfortunately the goat/sheep pen freaked out Rowan & Sayler!! Rowan was crying so hard he was shaking, it was so sad. He's been in there before, but the sheep were quite aggressive this time and after our carrots. So, in all the crying chaos, I shelved our carrot remains ontop of the closest fence I could find only to have them fall prey to the llamas. Oh well, Maggie and I were in such a hilarious predicament (holding our babies, while trying to free our sobbing toddlers from the goat mob) we didn't have time to worry about our carrots! It was so sad for the toddlers, but so funny for the mommies... I couldn't stop laughing.Ok, back to the Fair goats. This is where Rowan told Mark "careful" when the goat jumped up on the fence. He's afraid of them and worried for our safety from these mean goats. Mark had to take a phone call so I was pushing the stroller and holding one of Rowan's hands as we walked through the goat barn. We walked past an older couple and Rowan reached up and grabbed the man's hand! He then warned them about the goats. He's not afraid of cows though. Although this one is fake.
He just spotted the baby cows.
"I know this is a great photo op, Dad, but I really want DOWN!"
"And what do I do here? Crawl through this tiny hole?"
My favorite thing at the Fair (except I don't put tabasco on mine, yuck! only lots of butter n salt) We lost a shoe. Now, this isn't the first time it's happened, no. It's actually the 3rd. Well, it really happened this time. It's really gone. I was infuriated. Don't really know why, it's just a shoe... so much better a shoe than a child, but this shoe has been through a lot, it fits great, and goes with virtually anything he wears. So, as the story goes, the first loss occured while riding the "biiike" (aka super charged 4-wheeler) in Idaho. I made my Dad go back down the trail and search for it, miraculously finding it! Then, we went to the beach one Saturday, came home... it was gone. No where to be seen, I turned the house completely upside down, then literally had to load up a barefoot child and drive to Wee-Feet (kids' shoe store in LR) to buy another pair on our way out one night (of course, the brown color was gone so we settled for blue, strike 1). Then, just the other day, I found it underneath the coffee table!? And, now... just tonight we were in a very crowded line to get a BBQ sandwich, waffle fries, and cornbread when we discovered the naked foot. I stopped right there, abandoned my little family and literally retraced all our steps BACK across the entire fairgrounds, searching in vain for that stupid shoe, cursing as I went! It was gone. Gone. Who takes a shoe? I even had the information booth radio every station to see if someone had turned it in. By then, we were so ready to go home we left the OC Fair tired, dirty, full of fair food, and with one less shoe. Ahh, until next year!!

Ugh, that totally stinks that you officially lost Rowan's shoe. I know how hard you tried not to lose it! Looks like the OC fair was a alot of fun.

Kristy, Maybe it is time to get Rowan tennis shoes.
You know the kind that ties up and won't fall off.
Does Grandma need to buy him a new pair?
Give Rowan and Sarah a hug! Excited to see them in October.

Hi, Kristy. I just happened upon your blog through your mom's blog when I was browsing through photography websites. My maiden name was Rebekah Miller and we went to grade school together. You have such a beautiful family. And such a fun blog. I have a simple blog in Portuguese for my husband's family, but one day when I have time I want to do one in English. I have a 4 year old girl and a 1 1/2 year old boy. We also have one due in December. They keep me pretty busy, but it's nice to be living if I.F. again and to have the help of my family, especially my mom. I loved, loved your mom's pictures of your "baby story." Wow, what a treasure.

Those mean goats! It was nice of Rowan to warn the other people. Otherwise, they never would have known. I'm so sorry about the shoe. I'll bet it was really frustrating. That stinks. Good luck keeping another pair of shoes. :D
