Yes, you read right... We just went to American Idol! I am super late in posting about it, but that doesn't mean it wasn't exciting!! We took our wonderful friends, Tony & Suzanne Davis and it was a blast! Here's the story...

So, about a year ago when Jordin Sparks was on the verge of winning Idol 6, I got very jealous that several of our friends were going to see it! So, I thought "How can I do this? I'm not popular, nor do I have an inside connection to get tickets... hmmm..." INTERNET, people. I went the simple (yet patient) route and signed up on americanidol.com and sure enough, my turn in line came about last weekend! I got the craziest email (I mean, crazy instructions that left me nervous I'd forfeited the whole thing!) But, after several phone calls to "CameraAudiences", I was reassured that we would get in if we were in line at least 2 hours before and appropriately dressed...

And, so the story goes... we only made it one hour before and as it turned out, we were the LAST people to get let in!!! We were the "seat fillers" which means that you'll probably get seperated from your group and need to be bounced around the theater the whole night... We initially got seats together but that lasted all of about 5 minutes... see, when the VIPs show up, you get the boot. So, we got booted, but there was one seat at the very top that I (the pregnant one) got to sit in... but then they took the rest of my party completely away!!! I had no idea where they'd end up, but as luck would have it, Mark, Tony, & Suzanne all ended up down by judges and had great views of the front! Standing... so I was glad to be sitting for the 2 hours, I didn't think those chubby legs of mine could hold up that long. And, yes I snuck in my iPhone (the most amazing piece of technology ever made... how did I survive without one??) So, these pictures are all taken from the very back row w/my iPhone... not bad, huh?

A few things:
1. The stage is so small compared to how they beef it up on the big screen.
2. The contestants do sound different live than on TV, except for David Archuletta... he's amazing and my first pick!!
3. Victoria Beckham is a mean mom... she was there w/all 3 of her darling boys. One was dressed like Buzz Lightyear and after one of the commercial breaks apparently was not a happy Buzz to be going back to his seat, so in her high heeled glory she angrily pulled him back to his seat... it made me sad for Buzz.
4. Ricki Lake has lost a lot of weight and looks great!
5. Suzanne got to sit RIGHT next to Heidi Montage & Spencer (guess they ARE together) and Heidi's mani/pedi color-of-choice is white.
6. Jane Seymour is super tiny... I can only hope to look that good when I'm 60-ish.
7. Mark got to sit by a teeny bopper star from Nickelodeon's "Zoe 101" (no, not Jamie Lynn Spears, but the other one) and she was super nice, signing lots of autographs for kids.
8. Simon is much shorter and thinner than on screen, same for Paula.
9. I love the Grove and Suzanne and I want to plan a "Mommy's trip" there for the day.
10. I love Ladera and would never want to live in LA.
We had so much fun!! I loved that Suzanne & Tony came with us!! We had a blast and just in time for Suzanne's birthday! Thanks for coming and making our AI experience so memorable!!

VERY cool! Thanks for that insider information...so sad for little Buzz Lightyear :( Glad you got to sit, can't imagine having to stand for 2 hours as far along as we are! Your iphone takes good pictures!

How awesome! I am so jealous.
I have been waiting for you to do a post on this! I heard all about it and loved that Suzanne was sitting next to Heidi. Classic. Looks like fun!

I always wondered how you get tickets- so cool for you guys! My sister saw Simon in Las Vegas and was shocked at how short he is. And I am with you about David A.- he's awesome.
That's awesome! It's true what they say- the camera does add 10 lbs; celebs are so small when you see them in person.
The Grove is SO fun. Make sure you hit the crepe place in the Farmer's Market. Or the neighboring Mexican food place. The BEST!!
I agree- LA is fun to visit, but not to live (unless you're single or don't have kids).
I love AI! I am glad you were able to go. I love the celeb commentary!
SUPER DUPER FUN!!! I have been to a few tapings but not since season 2!!! I am so jealous you got to go! Did you just sign up for tickets online? Glad it was great and loved all the inside info on the celebs.
Kristy... I am so jealous! Did you get my email with your pic next to Brooke? From the beginning Steve says she reminds him of you. You look so cute pregnant!
David Archuletta is so amazing! Michael and I are pulling for him too!
That sounds like sooooooooooo much fun!!! I want to do that! What a fun night!! Thanks for sharing!
That is awesome. Thanks for all of the tips on the celebs!!! What a fun experiance. What about Ryan? Is he super short or what?
I'm so glad you had such a great time. The pictures are awesome. I also got to go to American Idol a few years ago. It was like the highlight of my year. I didn't get to see all of the stars you got to see. Only Simon, Paula, Randy, Ryan and I think Lori Laughlin from Full House. You got to hang with mean Posh.
I love your blog!! Little Rowan is such a cute little boy. I'm so jealous that you went to American Idol. I hope that I will be able to go to it someday. I hope everything is going well for you and your family.
Thanks for being such an awesome visiting teacher to me. I appreciate all of the kindness you and Chrissy as shown to me.
