Hi everyone,
We have had lots of phone calls from our family and friends about our situation with these devastating fires... Fortunately for us, our house and neighborhood of Ladera Ranch is far enough away not to be affected much more than terrible air quality! The sky is just so smoky and dense. All the schools have been cancelled until Monday because the air is just so bad. I had to cancel Rowan's Birthday party!! We were going to have it at the park just up from our house on Saturday... but we'd have to wear masks and that just takes the fun out of it!! :) Thank you all so much for your love and concern. My heart has just ached for those families that have lost their homes. The authorities know for sure that the fires in Orange County were caused by arsonists. So, we can blame all this smoky air on them!! There's a $150,000 reward for anyone with information to capture them. It's so mind-boggling that someone would actually start mass devastation like this. The Santiago fire (Orange County arson fire) has already burned and damaged lots of homes and 20,000 acres. It's so hard to believe that someone would do that on purpose. So, hopefully with a reward like that, some info will surface and they'll be caught and prosecuted! On another note, we have been so busy! Our little business has just started to blossom and grow and I'm out marketing 2 days a week calling on doctors and meeting with potential client families. We hired the greatest part-time nanny, Rosie who we are starting to love in just one week! She is amazing. There is nothing quite like coming home to a happy child and a spotlessly clean house. I am lovin it!! We signed up our first client today!! It was a momumental day for American Homecare. It was so exciting and our caregiver will start working on Saturday with them. In case you are wondering what it is we do.... We've started a homecare business for elderly. It's for people who need a little extra help at home with daily activites such as bathing, grooming, toileting, medication reminders, laundry, companionship, etc. It's the best company for us because we are helping people in times of need. It's so rewarding and fulfilling. I've been in the medical field for over 13 years now and that's what I love most, helping people and knowing that the aide you are giving them is making their life just a little bit easier during a difficult time. I minored at BYU in Gerontology and have always had such a soft spot in my heart for the elderly. I worked the Huntsman World Senior Games in St. George my senior year and probably had the most fun doing that than anything I ever did at BYU. It doesn't get much better than an entire baseball team of 65 year old men all asking you to make sure to watch their game because they were going to knock the 55 year olds out of left field!! I had so much fun there with all of them. Before I went to BYU, I was an RMA (registered medical assistant) and graduate of Provo College (yeah, there is such a place!) so I worked in a family practice office for 2 years before starting BYU. It was there that I established my deepest and fondest love of the medical field and helping people. I mean, what melts your heart more than a 5 year old with his arm in a cast telling his mom that he was going to marry that doctor lady when he got big (me!). Or a Down Syndrome woman who needed me to draw her blood and through her tears told me she was mad at me but that she still loved me (believe me, I was crying too!). So, I must say I'm so proud of Mark and I for starting this business. It was the most perfect business for us to start and grow together. I can't wait to see what the future holds!!

Oh that is so exciting! I've been wondering when you were going to start it up. I know you had been telling me about it and now it's going! That's so cool! Maybe I should be an RMA!!! The nursing program here is way tough to get into and it's also a tough program. I'm only working on my CNA right now and that's tough enough as it is. How was the RMA schooling? Was it totally horrible? anyways thats totally awesome! love you guys!
I am so relieved that you guys are okay- we couldn't get a hold of you and of course my imagination was running away with me! Glad the buisness is going well- it is dejavu for me because my dad did a similar buisness before- wishing you guys the best of luck! Kiss that one year old for me!!!!
O, Kristy! That is so fantastic! What a great fit for you- and I'm SO proud of you two for starting up your own business. It's quite an undertaking, but SO incredibly rewarding when you know that what you're doing is actually making a difference.
Looking forward to hearing more about it!
