We certainly consider ourselves lucky to have a baby that travels well... although sleeping in a hotel room well is a completely different story. Since Mark had some work to do out in D.C. we decided to tag along and visit some of Mark's college friends (whose wives have now become
my dear friends!)... so a day after Mark left, Rowan and I packed up and woke at the crack of dawn to trek across the U.S. Of course, I left my cell phone on the entire flight and it was nearly dead when I arrived, Southwest had lost my baggage, and it was FREEZING cold outside which Row was very vocal (screaming) in letting me know he did not enjoy that... although, what's he complaining about?? He's all bundled up in a nice
covered stroller while his mom is running around in a thin jacket dragging loads of luggage, frantically searching for their ride (with no cell phone) all while trying to lull him to sleep... he's got it so easy. It was such a fun trip! Besides the late nights trying to quietly hush him back to sleep as to not distrub the neighbors in the paper thin wall of the Marriott hotel, it was such a fun trip! We went downtown and visited the Holocaust Museum... had to "socially engineer" our way in because we were 5 seconds late for the last ride up the elevator... So we started at the end and worked our way up to the top. It was an amazing place full of so much emotion. I'd been there before 5 years ago but this was Mark's first time. He has such a love for war history that he was soaking everything in and remembering things he'd learned in school and on the History channel. We had such a fun time with Erin and Nathan (Mark's old college roommate and wife) from my grand old state of Idaho. They are wonderful friends and we enjoyed spending time with them talking, laughing, and playing with their kids. It was a very very fun trip and so memorable! And, yes. We are very happy to be home, Row especially. Right as we walked in the door, I set him in his swing and he just melted into it, with the hugest smile on his face. He's been smiling and laughing ever since and slept through the night without a peep!
